Unfortunate Delays
May 25, 2008

Due to some unforseen circumstances, we have been unable to start our class schedule or auditions as originally planned. At this time, we are on temporary hiatus but are still keeping a waiting list. If you are interested in our workshops or auditions, please email or call (901) 412-9019.

Again, we do not have any scheduled classes or auditions at this time. Our goals are to accomplish both of these tasks at some point in the future but we do not have a definitive timetable at this point.

Southeastern Comedy Arts Alliance
July 2, 2006

The Memphis Improvisational Theatre has been asked to be part of the Southeastern Comedy Arts Alliance, a collection of improv groups in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama who want to help get the word out about comedy in this area, but we know that soon, the alliance will span across many more southeastern states. In addition, the SECAA will be holding the Southeastern Comedy Arts Festival on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS on September 29-30, 2006. It will feature workshops, networking opportunities, and competitions in standup, sketch, and improv.
More local improv
July 2, 2006

There is a new improv group in Memphis called "Running Gag." They perform every Wednesday night at Jack Robinson Photo Gallery, Upstairs At 44 Huling Avenue. I checked out the show last week, and you should too. The more improv, the better. Add them to the growing improv scene, which already includes the Freak Engine, the Wiseguys, the Memphis Comedy & Improv Alliance, and MIT.
Brand new look
October 22, 2005

We decided to give the web site a new look. It has been redesigned in Dreamweaver MX, and is a lot easier to administer. The navigation structure is the same as before. It is a work in progress, and hopefully will keep on improving.

New Improvisational Performance Company Starting!
February 23, 2005

We are in the process of forming a new company for the purpose of creating an improvisational theatre company.  The focus of the group will be primarily longform improvisation, however, occasional ventures into sketch comedy, shortform improvisation, and multimedia would also be included.

All interested parties should contact us via email at or call (901) 412-9019.  There are no auditions planned at this time, although some may be scheduled in the future.

People with backgrounds and/or interests in improvisation, theatre, comedy, sketch, multimedia, dance, music, role-playing, commedia, forensics, and writing are strongly encouraged to join.  The most important things a person can contribute is a professional attitude, a good work ethic, and a great personality.
